Estoy Bien, tocando de Santiago, Chile, is a band who looks at the big picture - and I do mean BIG picture at almost 1 hour in length - taking influences from 2nd, 3rd and 4th Wave Emo, and designing a unique record. Perhaps the most ambitious album released this year, each individual track is noteworthy in its own way, but this is also one of the album’s biggest hurdles. Removing some of the excess could have seen this shoot straight to the top.
2026 Addendum:
I agree with my 2023 self, this record contains so many amazing songs all strewn together with little rhyme or reason. That said, most of the songs on here are incredible and show Estoy Bien are competent songwriters. My only gripe is actually with the album cover; I know in 2023 we didn’t really understand the dangers of using AI art, but I hope the band has learned from this mistake and will just pay an artist next time.
