5th Wave Emo is real and Short Fictions wants you to know that it runs through them. Much like their previous releases, this band showcases a wide range of influences and sounds, neatly packing them into an Emo Pop framework. No single track defines them, so be sure to check out the whole album.

2026 Addendum:

I didn’t focus enough on how different this really is from their older works. Despite them always experimenting, this is by far the most Indie-influenced they’ve come across. That’s not a bad thing at all, but I’ve since found that other records that I enjoy as much as this one are typically rated around the B+ Tier, so here it is. Highly recommend if you are into the newer wave of Indie-inflected experimental genre-bending Fifth Wave Emo.
